Half Heartedness

Ecclesiastes 9:10: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Psalms 9:1: I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.

Luke 10:27: And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Psalms 119:2: Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

Psalms 119:10: With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

Psalms 119:34: Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

Psalms 119:58: I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.

Revelation 3:15-16: I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Many in our world are uncommitted to many things. They are uncommitted to children, to parents, to family, to spouses, to friends, to their own best interests, to church, to school, to work, to truth, to prayer, to serving others, to love, to the Bible and even to God. They are half-hearted. They are luke-warm. When I am uncommitted and half-hearted I am miserable and dull, even to myself. In whatever I am half-hearted about, I am a failure. Failure is not doing our best. Success is doing our best, no matter if someone else or everyone else does better.

Micah 7:2-3: The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net. 3 That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

Many in our world are committed lock, stock and barrel to the wrong things, to sin. God is not pleased with half-heartedness toward good things or with great commitment to wrong things. Half-heartedness is a habit that sometimes follows individuals when they become Christians. It is interesting that the Apostle Paul was greatly committed to persecuting Christians and after he was converted he was greatly committed to sharing the gospel and blessing Christians. Whatever your background before you were I saved I pray that you will be a whole-hearted servant of others and a whole-hearted Christian in every way. Whole-hearted Christians are more fruitful and more joyful. Being a whole-hearted Christian pleases God and causes greater blessing for yourself and to others.

Titus 2:14: Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
